In our study of 1 Kings 9:20-23, we learned the importance of treating our servants with respect and honor. Solomon’s utilization of slave labor from the descendants of unconquered people may seem harsh, but it provided them with means of support and utilized available resources. Likewise, in our own lives, we may encounter situations or people we can’t change, but we can choose how we treat them. Jesus teaches us that true greatness lies in using our power to serve others, not in exerting control over them. We have the power to control our circumstances and emotions, training them to serve us. By directing our thoughts, emotions, and actions towards our goals, we can manifest what we desire in life and attain the ultimate prize.
